The table below shows the change in some household types in Great Britain from 1971 to 2007.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The table illustrates the difference in people living in a town in united kindom between 1971 and 2007.

Overall, the most stricking trend is significant decline in the percentage of people living in traditional nuclear families (couple with dependent children). There is a steady upward trend in the share of individuals living alone or lone-parent household.

In 1971, couples with dependent children consitutedthe vast majority of population at 52%. However, figure dropped consistently over the subsequent decades, reaching a low at 25% by 2007. In contrast, couple with no children rise, increasing from 19% to 25% over the same timeframe. Household couple with no-dependent children remain stable and fluctuating the whole period mainly between 9% and 11%.

Alternative living arrangement, the percentage of single person household doubled from 6% in 1971 to 12% in 2007. Whereas, lone-parent also saw a rise in percentage from 4% to 12% in the same period.
