PEOPLE IN HOUSEHOLDS BY TYPE OF HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY
Student answer (Band 4.0)
Overall the table showed the the difference in household type across different years from 1971 to 2007 In great Britain.
The table showed that the one family household and couple household were 0 from 1971 to 2007.And the highest ratio of household were of dependent children which were most highest in year 1971 52% and gradually decreased in following years and In 2007 falls to 36%.
However the household with No children had highest percentage in year 2007 and the lowest in 1971 which was 19% so we can see the gradual increase in the following years means the no children household increased from year 1971 to 2007.
While the other types like non dependent children and lone parent households were of low percentage as compared to other two type which we discussed previously.
In the last if we summarize the information it is as follow that the no children household increased from 19% to 25% from year 1971 to 2007 and household with dependent children decreased from 52% to 36 and there were no percentage of one-family and couple households.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task by reporting on several figures from the table, but it suffers from severe misinterpretations of the data. Most notably, the student repeatedly claims that 'one-family household and couple household were 0 from 1971 to 2007,' which completely misreads the structure of the table (where 'One-family households' is a parent category containing couples and lone parents). While some key trends are identified—such as the decline in dependent children from 52% to 36% and the rise in households with no children from 19% to 25%—the factual errors and confusion regarding the categories significantly undermine task fulfillment. Furthermore, there is unnecessary repetition at the end of the essay where data is restated without adding new insight. According to the descriptors, this performance aligns with Band 4.0 because the response addresses the task only partially and contains major inaccuracies in data reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear logical progression and proper paragraphing. The introduction is not separated properly from the body, and the body paragraphs are disjointed. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or awkward, such as starting multiple sentences with 'And' or 'While' without clear structural ties. The concluding summary is repetitive, restating information already mentioned in previous sentences without providing a cohesive wrap-up. Referencing is also weak, as seen in vague phrases like 'other two type which we discussed previously.' Overall, the arrangement of information is mechanical and lacks the control required for higher bands. This sits firmly at Band 4.0 due to the lack of coherent overall progression and poor paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. Words like 'table,' 'household,' 'percentage,' and 'increased' are used constantly without variation. There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies, such as using 'ratio' instead of 'percentage' or 'proportion,' and struggling with word forms (e.g., 'non dependent' instead of 'non-dependent'). The student also misinterprets table headings as numerical values, stating households were '0'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate simple ideas, the frequent lexical errors and lack of control over less common terms place this at Band 4.0, as the vocabulary is basic and sometimes strains the reader's understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or poorly constructed compound sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('In great Britain'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the highest ratio of household were'), capitalization errors, and a complete lack of punctuation across long, run-on sentences. For example, the sentence starting with 'However the household with No children...' runs on without commas or periods. The high frequency of basic grammatical errors impedes readability and shows weak control over sentence forms. This performance corresponds to a Band 4.0.
