The table below shows the change in some household types in Great Britain from 1971 to 2007.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The table illustrates the proportion of people residing in various household categories in Great Britain between 1971 to 2007.

Overall, households consisting of couples with dependent children wew constitently the most common category throughout the period, despite experencing a continous decline.Controversy, single-person households, childless couples, and lone-parent families all saw significant increase.

In 1971, over half of the Britain population [ 52%] lived in couple househols eith dependent children. However this figure dropped steadily over the following decades, reaching 36% by 2007. On the other hand, couples living with non-dependent children remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly between 9% and 11% across the entire 36-year span.

Meanwhile, childless couples formed the second largest group in 1971 at 19%, risisng staedily to peak at 25% in 2001 and remaining at that level in 2007. Similarly, the percentage of individuals living alone doubled from 6% in1971 to 12% in 2007 . Lone-parent households followed a matching upward trajectory, tripling from a low of 4% in 1971 to peak at 12% in 2001 and 2007.
