Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of the table, noting trends for categories such as dependent children and lone parents. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the interpretation of the data and a lack of a cohesive overview. For instance, the statement 'the one family households and couple had no any percentage' is factually incorrect and indicates a misunderstanding of the table's structure. Furthermore, some data points are misreported or vaguely described, such as the claim that lone parents increased 'about 3% in 1981' when the table shows a rise from 4% to 6%. The overview is weak, failing to summarize the overall trajectory of household types effectively. This corresponds to a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is organized into paragraphs, attempting to guide the reader from an introduction to detailed body paragraphs. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions and confusing statements, such as 'held household at highest scale'. While basic cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Meanwhile', and 'To expound the table in detail' are employed, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing is disrupted by abrupt and incomplete descriptions, as seen in the final paragraph which cuts off mid-analysis. Overall, the organizational structure is visible but lacks smooth progression, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for communicating basic trends, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'gradually increased', and 'constant'. However, there are numerous unnatural collocations, awkward phrasing, and lexical errors, such as 'dwellers in households' instead of 'population in households', 'held household at highest scale', and 'share in households'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word choice is often imprecise or non-standard, which restricts the lexical score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence structures, such as 'Furthermore, the family who had no children they had 19% of share...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as double subjects ('the family... they'), missing articles, awkward tense usage ('were held household'), and prepositions errors ('upto 20%'). These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader and demonstrate poor control over complex forms, keeping the grammatical performance within the Band 5.0 range.
