Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at only 102 words and trailing off mid-sentence ('have'). Because the text is severely under-length, it cannot fully cover all parts of the task or provide a complete overview. While the student attempts to introduce the table and identifies some general trends (such as the increase in one-person and lone parent households), the absence of a complete body paragraph and the unfinished conclusion heavily restrict the development of the task. Therefore, the score is capped at Band 4.0 due to the minimal and incomplete response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response attempts basic paragraphing and uses some introductory markers such as 'Overalll' and 'To begin with'. However, the structure breaks down immediately because the text cuts off mid-sentence at the end. Cohesion is faulty and mechanical in places, and the text lacks a logical progression because the body paragraphs are never fully developed. Furthermore, spelling errors in transitional phrases like 'Overalll' detract from the flow. Given the fragment nature of the writing, the overall organisation cannot be sustained.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, constrained by numerous spelling and typographical errors such as 'perrcentage', 'diffrent', 'betwenn', 'nad', and 'perecntage'. There are also punctuation and spacing errors (e.g., 'households. and lone parent', 'child;less'). While the student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary related to household types, the persistent lexical errors and limited range restrict the score to Band 4.5. The vocabulary is inadequate for a higher band due to frequent basic errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The table illustrates the percentage of different household types...' However, grammatical accuracy is low, with noticeable errors including missing articles ('singles person households'), incorrect prepositions ('betwenn year 1971'), and awkward phrasing. The most significant issue is that the text is unfinished, ending abruptly in a sentence fragment ('...have'). Because of the frequent errors and the incomplete grammatical units, the writing aligns with Band 4.5.
