Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 112 words with an incomplete sentence ("Non dependent children"). Furthermore, the overview contains a major factual confusion, claiming that "one-family household, couple and people having no children have 0 proportion in this time period", which directly contradicts the data. While the body paragraph correctly identifies trends for one-person households and couples with no children, the overall lack of completion and critical data misinterpretations significantly limit the task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response attempts a basic organizational structure with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression is severely disrupted by the truncated ending. Cohesive devices are minimal and basic (e.g., "Overall", "From 1971 to 2007", "Meanwhile", "In constrst"). Paragraphing is also disrupted by the incomplete final thought which fails to form a proper paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of an adequate concluding structure prevents higher scores.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic reporting, including terms like "proportion", "variation", and "gradually rose". However, there are spelling and typographical errors such as "instrst" instead of "contrast" and missing hyphens in "Non dependent". The range is limited and repetitive, and the major misinterpretation in the overview ("have 0 proportion") demonstrates poor lexical precision when dealing with data. Less common vocabulary is largely absent or used inaccurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as "From 1971 to 2007 the proportion of the one person household category gradually rose from 6 to 12." However, there are noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as "in between 1971" and missing prepositions or units. The text ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence fragment, leaving grammatical structures unresolved. Punctuation is also faulty around commas.
