Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
PEOPLE IN HOUSEHOLDS BY TYPE OF HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given table is illustrating the detailed data about people in households by type of household and family in Great Britain where one person household is six percent in 1991 but twelve percent in 2007 raised every decade. Moreover, in one-family households, couples have no children data is also given like as it was nineteen percent in 1971, twenty in 1981, twenty three in 1991, twenty five in 2001 and similar in 2007 respectively, whereas, fifty-two percent were dependent children reduced to thirty-six percent in 2007. There was decrement of one percent in non-dependent children in 2007. Although, the reports were stagnant for two decades such as in 1971, and 1981 on ten percent. The lone parent were surged to eight percent over the four decades. To sum up, the table represents the statistical data of households of Great Britain, providing knowledge about the survey difference over the decades, where it is with little variatiations in some contrary parts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You include several relevant figures and identify some changes, especially the rise in childless-couple households from 19% to 25% and the fall in households with dependent children from 52% to 36%. However, the account only partially covers the table and does not give a clear, accurate overview of its main pattern. The opening says one-person households rose from 6% in 1991, but 6% is the 1971 figure; the 1991 figure is 11%. The lone-parent category reached 12%, not 8%, and the non-dependent-child figures fell from 10% in 1981 to 9% by 2001, rather than showing a one-point fall only in 2007. State the broad contrasts accurately and report the key trends across the full period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, moves through several household categories, and ends with a summary. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “whereas,” and “To sum up” show an attempt to connect information. However, progression is difficult to follow because several categories and figures are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. “Although” begins a sentence without a clear contrast, and “such as in 1971, and 1981” makes the reference unclear. The final sentence repeats the general purpose of the table rather than synthesising the trends. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and detailed comparisons, and make each sentence focus on one clear comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “dependent children,” “non-dependent children,” “stagnant,” and “variations,” so the response is not limited to very basic wording. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make the data harder to understand: “raised every decade,” “decrement,” “surged,” and “little variations in some contrary parts.” “The detailed data” and “providing knowledge about the survey difference” are also vague or awkward for describing a table. Prefer precise reporting verbs and collocations, such as “increased,” “declined,” “remained unchanged,” and “the figures show.” Check spelling as well: “variatiations” should be “variations.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use contrast clauses, including “whereas” and “Although,” but control is uneven. Errors in sentence structure and agreement occur in phrases such as “one person household is six percent,” “couples have no children data is also given,” and “The lone parent were surged.” The sentence beginning “Although” is incomplete as written, while “such as in 1971, and 1981 on ten percent” has an unclear grammatical relationship between the years and the figure. These problems sometimes make the intended comparisons difficult to follow. Build a more reliable base with clear subject–verb patterns—for example, “The proportion of one-person households rose from 6% in 1971 to 12% in 2001”—then add complex clauses only when their structure is secure.
