PEOPLE IN HOUSEHOLDS BY TYPE OF HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The Table represent the change in some household types in Great Britain from 1971 to 2007. People are hold diffrent types of household like One person to Lone parent.

As we can see the percentage is some times increasing and descreasing order. For One person the percentage range in between 1971 to 2001 is increasing order but in 2001 to 2007 it remain constant . And for One-family households, couple there's no data are shown to the table . But from Non Childern theres the same pattern like One persons household type. It also increasing one after another and remaind constent as like 2001 and 2007 the value is similar which is 25 percent.

Also noticed that for dependent childern, and non-dependent children ther's a decreasing order where in 1971 the number is high 52 percent while it decreasing till 2007, the numbers are significantly decreasing 52 to 36 percent. Also non-dependent childern household 10 percent in 1971 and also 1981 reamin stady but in between year 1991 is higher among them which is 11 percent and reset of the years is 9 percent. And lastly for Lone parent the percentage of household are slightly incerasing while last tow years reamin stady as it beofre which is 12 percent and 12 percent. but in 1971 to 1991 it increasing by 2 and 4 step by step.

The whole table represent an idea how people use household in diffrent perspective and provide a trend of household type.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant trends, including the rise in one-person households, the fall in households with dependent children, and the increase in lone-parent households. You also report several figures accurately, such as the dependent-children share falling from 52% to 36%. However, the response only partly fulfils the task because it lacks a clear overview of the main contrasts and includes a significant misreading: “there's no data” for couple households, although the table gives figures for couples with no children and with children. The description of the overall pattern is also vague, and some comparisons are incomplete. Organise the key trends into a concise overview, then support it with accurate figures and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Also” and “And lastly,” so the reader can recognise that you are moving between household types. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the discussion shifts from one-person households to couple households, then to children and lone parents without a strong organising principle. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and references such as “the numbers” and “among them” are not always precise. The final sentence is a broad conclusion rather than a useful summary of the main trends. Group related increases and decreases together, use clearer topic sentences, and make each comparison explicit to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “dependent children,” “non-dependent children,” and “increasing.” This gives the response a basic range for describing the table. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise: “increasing order” and “decreasing order” are not natural ways to describe trends, while “use household in different perspective” does not clearly express the intended meaning. Frequent spelling errors, including “diffrent,” “remaind,” and “stady,” also reduce accuracy and can make the reader pause. Choose precise trend language such as “rose,” “declined,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the main direction of several trends can usually be understood. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and longer constructions are often difficult to follow. For example, “The Table represent” has subject–verb disagreement, while “there's no data are shown to the table” combines incompatible structures and uses an incorrect preposition. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the percentage is some times increasing and descreasing order.” Use straightforward sentence patterns first, check singular and plural agreement, and form comparisons with structures such as “the percentage rose from … to …” or “remained at ….”
