Student answer (Band 5.0)
The table illustrates the change in household types( one person,one-family households, couple, no children, dependent children, non-dependent children and lone parent) in Great Britain between 1971 to 2007. All figures measured in percentage.

Futhermore, households with one person and lone person had the least figure while one-family households and couple had no change in their household.
in 1971, households with dependent children had the higest change of about 52% while households with no children and non-dependednt children ranked the secong highest with about 19% and 10percent respectively. Household with one perosn and lone parent had the least approximately 6 percent and 4 percent respctively. Households with dependent children had about 47% in 1981, while non-dependent and no children had about 10 percent and 20percent respectively. in the same year, one person household and lone parent had the least of about 8% and 6%repectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the fall in households with dependent children from 52% in 1971 to 39% in 2001. However, the overview is not reliable: dependent-child households had the highest percentage, but not the “highest change,” and one-person households and lone-parent households did not have the lowest figures throughout. The claim that one-family households and couples showed “no change” is also inaccurate; the no-children category rose from 19% to 25%, while the table does not give a separate overall figure for couples. Your account stops at 2001 and leaves out the 2007 data and important trends such as the rise in lone-parent households. Select the main trends accurately and complete the comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an attempted overview, and details organised by year. This gives the reader some sense of the table’s progression, and phrases such as “in 1971” and “in the same year” help locate figures. However, the overview groups categories in a confusing way, and the body shifts between categories without a clear comparison or consistent structure. The final sentence is incomplete, so the account ends abruptly rather than providing a conclusion to the data description. Organise the body around the main trends—for example, declining dependent-child households versus rising one-person and lone-parent households—and use complete paragraphs and sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “percentage,” “ranked,” and “respectively,” and the household categories are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For example, “highest change” appears to mean “highest percentage,” while “least figure” is not a natural way to describe the smallest proportion. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Futhermore,” “higest,” and “respctively,” as well as inconsistent forms such as “non-dependednt.” Use precise terms such as “proportion,” “accounted for,” “rose,” and “fell,” and check spelling and category labels carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons joined with “while,” but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. The opening has a faulty time expression in “between 1971 to 2007,” and “All figures measured in percentage” lacks a finite verb and uses an incorrect singular form. Other examples include “households with dependent children had about 47% in 1981,” where the data relationship is awkwardly expressed, and the final sentence is unfinished. Capitalisation after full stops and spacing around punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise complete, controlled sentences such as “The proportion of households with dependent children fell from 52% in 1971 to 36% in 2007.”
