Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant categories and report some accurate figures, including the fall in households with dependent children from 52% to 36% and the rise in lone-parent households from 4% to 12%. However, the response only partially summarises the table: it gives no clear overview of the main patterns, and the one-person category is described only at the end of its rise, without its starting value or overall trend. The statement that the no-children figure “increases year by year” is broadly accurate, but other key comparisons are not brought together. Also, “the persons increase 2001 and 2007” is unclear and omits the earlier values. Select the most important overall changes and compare them explicitly to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows a basic sequence, moving from an introduction to comments on several household categories, and the repeated references to years help the reader follow the lone-parent figures. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and there is no distinct overview to guide the reader through the main trends. Some links between ideas are unclear: “The persons increase 2001 and 2007” does not explain how this relates to the preceding point, while “In the end” is not an appropriate signal for the final data category. The opening also repeats the idea of household types without establishing a clear progression. Group the main increases together, contrast them with the decline in dependent-child households, and use straightforward linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “dependent children,” “maximum,” and “minimum,” so the reader can recognise the subject and several comparisons. However, the range is limited and some wording is inaccurate or repetitive, which makes parts of the report difficult to interpret. For example, “The persons increase” is an imprecise way to describe the one-person household category, and “the discussion is household types” does not express the intended meaning naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “deopendent” and “persentage,” alongside inconsistent forms such as “non dependent.” Aim for precise table terminology and common reporting collocations, such as “the proportion of one-person households rose” and “remained stable.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and the sequence of lone-parent percentages shows an effort to report several data points in one passage. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. The opening, “In this table shows the comparison,” lacks a grammatical subject, while “The years discuss from 1971 to 2007” uses an incorrect verb form. Other examples include “The great Britain have” and “The persons increase 2001 and 2007,” which show problems with agreement and sentence construction. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly in the list of years. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences and use consistent past-tense reporting structures, such as “The proportion rose from… to…”.
