Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the broad topic and attempts an overview, but it reports almost none of the table’s actual information. The claim that the percentage of families “was rise” is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main pattern: households with dependent children fell from 52% to 36%, while one-person and lone-parent households rose. “The great increased in the no children” is also imprecise; couples without children increased from 19% to 25%, rather than being the greatest increase. The statement that lone parents had the “lowest” figure is true only at the start, not across the period. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words. To improve, give a clear overview and support it with accurate comparisons and key figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introductory sentence and an overview, which gives it a minimal structure. However, the ideas are not developed or connected into a coherent summary: there is no body paragraph, no sequence through the years, and no comparisons between household categories. The linking word “while” suggests a contrast, but the relationship between rising family percentages and the increase in childless households is unclear. The second sentence also joins separate claims with a comma and “However,” making the progression difficult to follow. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs comparing the main trends; use clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” where appropriate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a few relevant terms, including “table,” “household,” “percentage,” and “lone parent,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is very limited, and several word choices or forms make the meaning unclear: “table chart,” “individuals live in the appartments,” and “lowest counsuption” do not describe the data naturally. “The great increased in the no children” is also an imprecise way to refer to the couple category without children. Spelling errors such as “familys” and “appartments” further reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise chart-reporting expressions, such as “the proportion of households,” “rose steadily,” and “accounted for,” and use the table’s category labels accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts two sentences, including a contrast with “while,” but grammatical control is weak and the structures remain very limited. In “individuals live in the appartments,” the relative clause needs a clearer construction, such as “individuals living in households”; “between 1971 to 2007” also uses the wrong paired prepositions. The overview contains errors in verb form and agreement: “the percentage of familys was rise” should be “the percentage of families rose,” while “the great increased” needs a noun or a correctly formed verb. Punctuation is also faulty in “children, However.” Practise accurate simple past forms for historical data and build clear comparison sentences before attempting longer structures.
