Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant patterns, including the fall in households with dependent children from 52% to 36% and the rise in lone-parent households from 4% to 12%. However, the response only partially summarises the table: it gives little attention to the overall picture and omits the rise in couples with no children from 19% to 25%. The overview is also unclear, particularly the claim that some types “does not make any changes,” since most categories change and the figures for one-person households and childless couples rise before stabilising. The statement that one-family households and couples never changed is inaccurate. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview of the main contrasting trends and describe the categories precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an opening overview followed by details about several household categories, and phrases such as “on other hand” attempt to connect contrasting information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several trends are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “One family households and couple accommodation…” moves from an inaccurate claim to dependent children and then lone parents without clear transitions. The final paragraph also groups unrelated figures together, making “no children and one person also grew it up” unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and grouped data, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the decline in dependent-child households with increases in one-person and lone-parent households.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “dependent children,” “lone parent,” and “decline,” so the reader can recognise the subject and several trends. However, the range is limited and word choice is often inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. “Modifications” is not a suitable description of changes in percentages, while “accommodation types” and “grew it up” do not express household categories or increases naturally. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “illustreates,” “camparision,” and “chaed.” Build a reliable set of terms for describing tables—such as “household type,” “accounted for,” “rose,” and “fell”—and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses and time references, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “many of them showes” and “that is decline,” while “One family households and couple accommodation never be chaed” lacks a correctly formed verb. Articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries also need attention; for instance, “between 1971 to 2007” should use a consistent time construction, and the long second sentence would be clearer if divided. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures hard to understand. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “rose from … to …” and “whereas … fell.”
