Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the period and report some relevant figures, including the rise in one-person households from 6% to 12% and the increase for couples without children from 19% to 25%. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it omits the dependent-children figures, the non-dependent-children trend, and the actual values for lone-parent households. The overview is also inaccurate in saying that every category except the two children categories increased, since non-dependent households ended at 9%, below their starting 10%, and the claim that couples without children were highest is contradicted by dependent-child households. The response is 44 words below the required minimum, leaving the main features substantially under-reported. Include a complete, accurate overview and compare the key rises and falls.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with selected details. This gives the reader some sense of the intended organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Meanwhile” signal relationships between points. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph stops before completing its comparison, and “Followed by” and “Which was same as one person household” are fragments that interrupt the flow. The overview also combines several claims without clearly distinguishing the main trends. Develop a complete details paragraph, group related categories together, and use linking expressions only where their relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “household types,” “dependent children,” “percent,” and “dramatic change,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “how much the household types has been changed,” “increas a lot,” and “noticable change.” Repetition of “increase” and “change” also limits precision. Use standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the proportion of one-person households rose” and “the most marked increase occurred in lone-parent households.” Check spelling and choose precise terms for rises, falls, and stable figures; this will make comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few different sentence forms, including an introductory clause and contrast markers, but control is inconsistent. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “household types has been changed” and “one person have increas,” as well as tense and construction problems in “from 1971 to 2007” and “they increase almost 6percent.” The fragments “Followed by couple with no children” and “Which was same as one person household” show difficulty forming complete sentences. Punctuation and spacing are also unreliable, for example “Overall,Every.” Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense verbs consistently when describing the historical data.
