PEOPLE IN HOUSEHOLDS BY TYPE OF HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The table illustrate the change in few household types in Great Britian from 1971 to 2007. The table shows 3 types of people One Person, One family and Lone parent. The least household items were used by Lone parent followed by One Person and Family with no dependent childres. The family with dependent children had the most number of household items. There is a small increase in number for One person, Family with no children and Lone parent throughout the time period of 1971 to 2007. However, family with no dependent children seems to have less usage of household items in 2007 as compare to 1971. The most evident difference in numbers is for family with dependent children where decrement is been clrearly seen. Overall, there is a gradual increase of numbers for most of the types from 1971 to 2007.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad pattern that the dependent-children category was largest and that several categories rose, which is relevant. However, the account is incomplete and some comparisons are inaccurate: lone-parent households did not remain the smallest throughout, since they reached 12% in 2001 and 2007, matching one-person households; the smallest category at the end was non-dependent children, at 9%. You also say this latter group had less “usage” in 2007 than in 1971, although it fell from 10% to 9%, while the dependent-children figure declined from 52% to 36%. The response is 141 words, below the required 150. Add a clearer overview and accurate key figures to cover the main changes more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, identifies some broad comparisons, and ends with an overall statement. Linking words such as “However” and “Overall” help signal contrast and summary. Nevertheless, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, and the progression is not always clear: the opening list of household types is followed by a ranking, then several trend statements without a well-defined overview or supporting detail. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “family with no dependent children,” which could mean either the no-children or non-dependent-children category. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph comparing the main figures, using precise category labels and clearer links between claims.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “increase,” “decrement,” and “throughout the time period,” and the reader can generally understand the intended trends. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a table: “household items” refers to objects rather than household types or percentages, and “usage” does not describe the proportion of people in a category. “Least household items were used” also makes the comparison unclear. Spelling errors such as “Britian,” “childres,” and “clrearly” further reduce accuracy. Use consistent terms such as “proportion,” “share,” “category,” “rose,” and “declined,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including a contrast with “However” and a concluding sentence beginning “Overall,” but most sentences use simple structures and errors occur frequently. For example, “The table illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “as compare to 1971” has an incorrect comparative construction. The phrase “decrement is been clearly seen” also has faulty verb formation, and “The table shows 3 types of people One Person…” lacks punctuation and a clear grammatical connection between the clauses. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise accurate present-tense reporting and comparative forms, and use controlled structures such as “X rose from … to …, whereas Y fell.”
