Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant trends, including the rise in one-person households from 6% to 12%, the increase in lone-parent households from 4% to 12%, and the decline in households with dependent children from 52% to 36%. However, the overview is vague (“there were changes”) and does not clearly summarise the main pattern: dependent-child households remained the largest category but fell, while several other types increased. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: “there were no couple house and one-family households” conflicts with the table, which reports couple subcategories within one-family households, and “six to twelve persons” confuses percentages with people. The account also gives limited coverage of the couple-with-no-children category. Select the key comparisons accurately and state the overall trends directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence, beginning with an introduction and an attempted overview before describing individual categories. Linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “Following” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the overview does not guide the details, and the body moves between categories and years without a clear organising principle. The sentence beginning “In 1981 population remain almost same” is difficult to connect to the preceding discussion, while “Following the remaining two years” leaves the time reference unclear. Some links are also used inaccurately or mechanically. Group the rising categories together and contrast them with the declining dependent-children category, using clear references to the years and percentages.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “proportion,” “increased,” and “decline,” so the reader can recognise that the response describes changes over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the data difficult to interpret. “Six to twelve persons in the house” should describe a percentage, not a number of people, and “population of the houses” is not an appropriate way to refer to household categories. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “houehold,” “catagories,” and “houesholds,” alongside repeated use of “houses” where “households” is needed. Use precise category labels and vary verbs such as “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a clause beginning “While.” Some basic meaning is understandable, but errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “changes in the amount of persons happend” has an incorrect verb form and an awkward grammatical pattern; “the percentage … also increases” does not maintain the past tense used for the historical data; and “The Lone parent remain low” has a subject–verb agreement error. Several sentences run together or lack clear punctuation, particularly the passage beginning “One person houesholds have increased.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before adding complex clauses.
