Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both the economic benefits and the possible cultural and environmental harms, and your examples of tourism-related businesses and busy sites in India are relevant. However, the response does not clearly answer “to what extent” you agree: the introduction says you will discuss the topic, while the conclusion only says tourism has advantages and disadvantages. Your ideas are also limited and under-developed; for example, you mention pollution and damage to culture but do not explain how these occur or why they outweigh, or do not outweigh, the economic benefits. The response is 68 words below the required minimum, which leaves little space to develop your position and support it. State your degree of agreement directly and extend each main point with explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on economic benefits, a contrasting paragraph on harms, and a conclusion. The transitions “Firstly” and “on the other hand” help signal the change in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links feel mechanical. For instance, “Tourist spent money on shopping, food and basic” does not clearly connect to the preceding point, while the final sentence introduces government funding without developing that idea earlier. Referencing and sentence boundaries also make some relationships difficult to follow. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one clear claim, then explain it and give an example; use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of topic vocabulary, including “economic development,” “job opportunities,” “local culture,” and “environment pollution,” so the reader can identify the main subject and ideas. However, vocabulary is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “supports to local business,” “Tourism can be caused of local culture,” and “some click photos.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “overcrowed,” “resturants,” and “Tousism.” These issues reduce precision, particularly when describing the negative effects. Build a small set of accurate phrases for tourism’s benefits and impacts, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Aim to express each point with a precise verb and natural collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a reason-and-example structure with “for instance.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. The opening sentence joins separate clauses without appropriate punctuation, and “Tourism provide job opportunities it increases income” has the same problem as well as subject–verb agreement. Other examples include “Tourist spent money” and “people damage the culture things,” where verb forms and sentence construction are unclear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine ideas using controlled clauses with “because,” “which,” or “although.” Check agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation when editing.
