Student answer (Band 5.5)

Economies of many countries are improving due to the rapidly increased in tourism industry. On the other hand, the damage that has been given to local cultures and the environment is always ignored. Overall, I completely agree with this view which is tourism has many benefits such as, growth in economy of a country and local community. while on the other hand, there is also some side effects of tourism like, increased in pollution of the environment and change in behavior of citizens.

Initialy, i firmly argue with this view of tourism which have more benefits to the local and national economy of a country. For instance, the rapid industries growth of tourism will contribute to economy in the ways when visitors visits a country like pakistan they will spend their money on visa from another country tickets and much more things, this will benificial for a nation economy. moreover these tourist will also give benifits to local village in the shape of apartment rents, buying foods, accesroies and clothes of pakistani culture. these are main thing that will increase economy, Additionally it will helps communities.

Subsequently, tourism can cause damage to local cultures and environment. individuals and also government ignore these circumstances, such as when visitors visit country side the pollution of the place increased dramatically. furthermore this will also change the behavior of local citizens, For exsmple tourist come to swat which located in the northern region of pakistan from china and meet locals. it will effect our cultures like local people will see their clothes which is very differents from us and foods which they eat is also different from locals. therefore they will definatly try new things to do and leave their local tradational cultures.

In conclusion, the fastest growth of tourism industries have both benifits and drawbacks. like benificial for economic growth of a country and helps countryside in the way of spending their money on booking hotels and shopings. but their is also some drawback, such as significant increased in pollution which people make in clean environment to throw their waste thing anywhere. in addition this will change the culture of a cummunity mostly in countrysides.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction: you agree that tourism brings economic benefits but can harm cultures and the environment. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including visitors spending money in Pakistan and pollution in the countryside. However, the response does not fully develop the extent of your agreement: the opening says you “completely agree,” while much of the essay balances benefits and drawbacks without explaining why the damage is often ignored or how serious it is. The Swat example suggests cultural change, but the link between tourists’ different clothing or food and locals abandoning traditions needs clearer explanation. Develop each main point with a specific consequence and connect it directly to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate economic benefits from negative effects. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from national spending to village rents and then to a general claim about communities, while the second combines pollution and cultural change without a clear transition between them. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “Subsequently,” and “therefore” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Organise each paragraph around one central point, use clearer topic sentences, and make references such as “this” and “these circumstances” more specific.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “local cultures,” “pollution,” “economic growth,” and “traditional cultures,” and you attempt to describe tourism’s effects on both communities and the environment. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less clear. Examples include “rapid industries growth,” “the damage that has been given,” and “spending their money on booking hotels and shopings.” Spelling errors such as “benificial,” “accesroies,” and “definatly” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms. Prefer natural combinations such as “rapid growth in the tourism industry,” “damage caused by tourism,” and “spend money on accommodation and shopping.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “when,” “which,” and “such as,” so there is some effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “the rapid industries growth … will contribute” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “these tourist will also give benifits” has a number-agreement problem. In “the pollution of the place increased,” the verb form does not fit the surrounding general statement. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, and punctuation.
