Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that tourism is growing faster and playing a major role in the economy a specific country. However, some people believe that tourism has some negative aspects also.It is playing a great role in damaging local culture and environment.

I believe that although tourism brings a great financial benefits but its negative aspects should not be ignored.

First of all, tourism creates a lot of opportunities for employment for local people. It boosts employments in different areas like transportation, restaurants, hotels, amusement parks etc.It promotes small business as well.

When international visitors come for sake of tourism, it brings other advantages too. It helps to promote overall infrastructure and economy of a country.

On the other, tourism also have some disadvantages.

The first one is environmental damage, when massive people visits a place at one time they contribute their role in creating pollution, wasting water, throwing garbadge around and destroy natural beauty. The authorities utilize natural resources to comfort tourists and make money from them. But the locals suffers because those natural resources were supposed to use for locals.

The second disadvantage is cultural degradation. The actual values, local languages and their traditional lifestyle affects very much.

Thirdly, tourism also brings socio economic pressure on locals. It brings inflation. The rate of everything start to increase due to tourism.

Sometimes tourism also is responsible for causing social crimes for example snatching .

So it is true on that tourism has very useful impact on economy of acountry. But we cannot ignore the serious damag it causes the environment and local cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the issue and make your position clear: tourism benefits the economy, but its harm to culture and the environment should not be ignored. Relevant points include employment, infrastructure, pollution, pressure on natural resources, cultural change and inflation. However, several ideas are listed rather than explained. For example, the claim that tourism affects “actual values” and traditional lifestyles would be stronger with a specific explanation of how visitor demand changes local customs. The point about social crime is also brief and unsupported. To develop the response further, explain the causes and consequences of your strongest examples and connect them more directly to the question’s concern about local cultures and the environment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, economic benefits, disadvantages and a concluding position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “The first one,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the list of points. However, the disadvantages section becomes a series of short claims, so the relationship between ideas is not always developed. “On the other” is an incomplete transition, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the main points together. Paragraphing would be more effective if each paragraph focused on one connected aspect, with explanation and an example. Use linking expressions to show cause and effect, not only to announce the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “employment,” “infrastructure,” “natural resources,” “cultural degradation,” and “inflation.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “traditional lifestyle.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “boosts employments,” “contribute their role,” and “the rate of everything start to increase” are not natural formulations. Spelling errors such as “garbadge,” “damag,” and “acountry” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range of phrases for describing tourism’s effects, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More natural collocations would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although tourism brings… but its negative aspects should not be ignored” and a conditional time clause beginning “when massive people visits.” These attempts show some range, but several sentence patterns are not controlled accurately. For example, “tourism also have” needs subject–verb agreement, while “The actual values… affects” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The opening sentence also joins ideas with a full stop but no following space, and some long sentences need clearer punctuation to separate clauses. Practise accurate agreement, articles and clause construction, then proofread sentence boundaries. Greater control of these patterns would make your meaning easier to follow.
