Student answer (Band 7.5)
With easier and faster access to any country around the around, the tourism industry seems to be majorly blooming. Many countries today, such as Maldives and Srilanka, have their economy completely reliant on the number of visitors. Although the tourism sector is a great contributor to economy of such country, they come with some issues and often lead to threat towards the local traditions and surroundings. I wholly agree that such issues are being neglected too much and will have tremendous repercussions unless some actions are taken.
A primary example of tourism threat to local cultures is the growing number of tourists who are religious preachers, in the South Asian regions. While they may or may not have ill-intention, such practice itself is demeaning to the locals, their faith and their cultures. There also exists tourists who are genuinely curious about the local traditions and try to involve and integrate themself more with the natives. However, some reports are also found regarding vandalism of temples, cussing during pious chants and debating with locals about their way of living. These kind of situations provide evidences as to how damaging tourism is to the local cultures.
Furthermore, tourism industry has also been a threat to the environment, majorly because of the immense growth and difficulty in management. Since Airways are the most preferred options for people taking a vacation, to support increasing number of tourists, airlines have been adding more number of flights. These frequent flights have led to exhaustion of natural resources like fossil fuels and also have increased the release of Carbon Dioxide to the atmosphere, leading to the atmospheric pollution. Moreover, to support the accommodations for the increasing tourists, forests are being cleared in some countries, leading to the loss of habitat of creatures, threatening biodiversity. For instance, Nepal recently approved the clearance of a jungle around Rara Lake, which is an alpine forest located in the Himalayan region and a home to endangered snow leopard.
To sum up, despite being of great economical value, the rapid growth of tourism industry has indeed been an immense threat to local cultures and environment. While complete stoppage of visitors is not a viable idea, there should be a regulatory approach to make this sector more balanced so that its impacts can be mitigated largely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have clearly addressed all parts of the prompt, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay. Your ideas are well-developed, particularly the environmental impact section, which provides a specific and relevant example regarding the Rara Lake in Nepal. The cultural impact section is also relevant, though the point about 'religious preachers' could have been more clearly linked to the broader concept of tourism-related cultural erosion to ensure maximum clarity. Overall, your response is well-structured and directly answers the question regarding the extent to which you agree with the neglect of these issues.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay follows a logical progression, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the argument (cultural vs. environmental). You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'To sum up' effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences could be slightly more sophisticated to avoid a mechanical feel. However, the overall structure is clear and supports the development of your argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with precision. Phrases like 'tremendous repercussions', 'mitigated', and 'endangered' show a good command of language. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'majorly blooming' (which is informal) and 'around the around' (a typo). Additionally, 'provide evidences' is incorrect as 'evidence' is an uncountable noun. Despite these occasional slips, your vocabulary is varied enough to convey complex ideas effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'economy of such country' (missing an article) and 'integrate themself' (should be 'themselves'). You also have some issues with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'these kind of situations'. However, these errors do not impede communication, and you show a good ability to construct complex sentences to explain cause-and-effect relationships, such as your explanation of the environmental impact of air travel.
