Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging both the economic benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. However, the development of ideas is often unclear or repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding cultural adoption is confusingly phrased, and the link between visiting the Golden Temple and poverty reduction is not logically explained. While a position is stated, the supporting arguments lack depth and clarity, often relying on vague generalizations. To improve, you should focus on providing specific, well-explained examples that directly support your main points rather than listing ideas that are difficult to follow.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is frequently hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear logical flow. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Initially', 'However'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'growing of tourism', 'enjoyable movements', and 'marketing of that particular region'. Some phrases are used incorrectly, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, economics, and environmental impact, while ensuring you use these words in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include incorrect article usage, subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'tourism increase'), and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read at times. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
