Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is undeniable that nowadays, tourism has been increasing rapidly as people are more curious to know about different places in the world. In this regard some people think that tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a great deal to economies around the world while other think that the damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. I agree to large extent to the negatively effects of tourism due to many reasons which will outline in forthcoming fragment with logical conclusion.
To commence with, there are several points against tourism. First and foremost is that environment is degraded due to tourism. To justify, when the tourist came to the different places so they had to bought single use products and other necessary things of plastic which they throw anywhere after using it. This causes the environment by all perspectives, mainly land and water. Mountains, beaches, temples suffer from habitat destruction. Secondly, it causes loss of local culture and tradition. To explain, To satisfy tourists local communities may commercialize their traditional festivals and customs. Overtime, this results in the disrespect toward the culture and tradition of the place. Moreover, overcrowding and damage to local places and result to crime. To elaborate it, tourism result to overcrowding and when the overcrowding takes place this would generate the chances of crime such as theft, murder or something like this. If any type of dispute took place on the traditional place ,it will damage that place if the people start fighting with each other in such a crowd.
However, there are few reasons in favour of tourism. Prime one is that it helps to boost the economy and result in the growth of gross domestic product. To clarify, if the tourism increases people had to spend money on necessary things like food, accommodation, travelling, healthcare. This would increase the revenue of individuals and these individual would pay more tax and more tax result in economic growth of thee country.
To conclude, although there are several points against tourism such as environment degradation, loss of local culture, overcrowding result to dispute and crime yet some reasons which are in favour of tourism can never be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by acknowledging both the economic benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. Your position is clear from the introduction, and you provide relevant arguments for both sides. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat uneven. While the environmental and cultural points are clear, the argument regarding crime is a bit speculative and lacks specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are more thoroughly explained and grounded in real-world context rather than general assertions. Overall, you have successfully engaged with the topic and maintained a consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use transition signals such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'However' to guide the reader through your arguments. While the structure is sound, some of the cohesive devices feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'To justify' and 'To explain' are used in a formulaic way. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'This causes the environment by all perspectives', where the connection to the previous idea is a bit awkward. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commercialize', 'gross domestic product', and 'habitat destruction' appropriately. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'had to bought' instead of 'had to buy', and 'result to' instead of 'result in'. Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'something like this' or 'by all perspectives'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word forms (nouns, verbs, adjectives) are used accurately in context. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary will also help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'when the tourist came... they had to bought', 'tourism result to overcrowding'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and occur regularly. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for basic tense consistency and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical markers. Strengthening your control over these structures will significantly improve your score.
