Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 184 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and under-supported. While the prompt asks for the extent of agreement, the response provides a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. The position is somewhat unclear, as the student mentions agreeing to a 'small extent' but then lists benefits without effectively linking them to the core issue of environmental and cultural damage. To improve, you must expand on each point with specific examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for full development of your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' followed by a list of disjointed points. The transitions between ideas are abrupt, making the text feel like a series of bullet points rather than a flowing argument. Referencing is often unclear, and the lack of sufficient supporting sentences makes the overall structure feel fragmented. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'trevel' instead of 'travel', 'cothing' for 'clothing', and 'routen' for 'routine'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the frequent spelling errors hinder the quality of the writing. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and the environment, and practice proofreading your work to catch basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'human get bored by there same daily routen' (subject-verb agreement and spelling) and 'it help an nation to grow there GDP' (incorrect pronoun usage). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is often misused, particularly with spaces before commas. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and pronouns.
