Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is undeniable that in present times, tourism is growing rapidly in all over the world. In this regard, tourism is the fastest growing industries and contributed a great deal to economies around the world but, the damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. I agree up to some extent because of several reasons which will be outlined in the forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion.
To commence with, there are many benefits of tourism. The first and foremost is job creation. To clarify, if more and more people visit the different places on holidays it will provide employment opportunities to many people. For instance, if people greatly visit many places it will generate jobs of cab drivers, shopkeeper and pulley. Hence, their income will rise and many provide types of jobs. Secondly it rises wealth of a country. To explain, tourists have to consult with several tourist agencies before going to a trip so, in return agencies charge particular amount of money from them as a profit. Therefore, it directly give rise to financial economy of a nation. As a result, it lead to growth of wealth of a country. Furthermore, it leads to cultural exchange. To justify, if people will visit different kinds of places, they will discuss and share cultural values, knowledge and various experiences which thy had in their own country. Hence, it will also increase knowledge, experience and habits.
However, there are also few demerits of tourism as it can cause to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. The prime one is loss of culture and rise of pollution. To elaborate, increase in the tourism often damage to the environment as it pollutes rivers, valleys and atmosphere. The growth of tourism also increases the number of flights from one country to another thus, it produce smoke that is harmful and it pollutes the air and overall atmosphere of a country. To illustrate, people throw garbage on roads and streets it makes surroundings dirty. To epitome, in a country like India, people don't follow rules and regulation and rise in number of vehicles also increase the pollution.
In conclusion, although there are many pros of tourism such as growth in industries, jobs creation, rise in the wealth and cultural exchange. Yet, cons cannot be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, acknowledging both the economic benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the discussion on job creation is limited to a list of roles, and the environmental impact section relies on general statements rather than specific, well-supported arguments. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced analysis and concrete examples that go beyond general observations. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to signal the progression of ideas. However, some of the transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'forthcoming fragments' or 'To epitome'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. While the overall structure is coherent, the use of cohesive devices is not always flexible or sophisticated, which keeps the response at a mid-level band for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'employment opportunities', 'cultural exchange', and 'financial economy'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'rise in the wealth', 'greatly visit', and 'produce smoke'. Some vocabulary is used incorrectly, such as 'forthcoming fragments' instead of 'following paragraphs' or 'To epitome' instead of 'To exemplify'. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the presence of these errors limit the score. Expanding your range of topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'it lead to growth' (subject-verb agreement) and 'if people will visit... they will discuss' (unnecessary future tense in the conditional clause). There are frequent errors in articles ('in all over the world', 'the growth of tourism'), prepositions, and pluralization ('shopkeeper and pulley'). While these errors do not typically impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
