Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the negative impacts of tourism on culture and the economic benefits. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. For example, the argument regarding 'senior citizens' moving to other nations is not clearly linked to the prompt about tourism. The position is stated but lacks depth, and the explanation of how tourism affects culture is repetitive and lacks specific, relevant examples. The response tends to confuse 'tourism' with 'immigration' or 'moving to other countries', which weakens the overall task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'In conclusion'), they are often used incorrectly or mechanically. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as in the sentence 'The first and foremost reason, when people starting living in other nation', which lacks a clear subject. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'living hobbies', 'remain same mindset', and 'making anything paying tax'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to express complex ideas precisely. While the meaning is generally discernible, the lack of control over word forms and collocations prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More precise terminology related to tourism and socio-economic impacts is needed.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('It have a apparent reason'), pluralization ('some peoples', 'childs'), and sentence fragments ('And Damage tourism can cause...'). Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic capitalization and misuse of commas. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex structures that are often grammatically incorrect. These errors are frequent and sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning.
