Student answer (Band 5.0)
Tourism is important to any country no matter how rich or poor it is. The reason being it highlights the local culture of the area while also informing people of the world how people around the world enjoy life. It can bridge the gape between different races. like for example Japan which has more then million tourists every year because people admire their history and traditions. Tourism can also help financially as well. Places like Huawei, Japan, Dubai earns a lot through tourism, they also try to make it their main source as well.
But there is a down side as Tourism attracts different types of people some of them destroy the local infrastructure by not following the rules or the countries law. creating problem for other tourists as well. Problems extends beyond this as the local people are the one that need to engage with the tourist the most they become fed up when the number keeps rising and they have to keep in line everyone to there local customs. this is the reason there are protest in popular tourist spots to keep a check and balance on tourism so that the locals are not the one suffering. This is very much visible in rural areas where the tourism associations with the help of the local municipalities push people away from their home to make that place a tourist destination. This same problem is faced in towns where there is a housing crisis but the government is more focused on booking out buildings for tourist. Making tourism their main focus more then the local people

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. However, the position is not clearly stated in the introduction, and the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples like Japan and Dubai, the mention of 'Huawei' as a place is a factual error that weakens your argument. The discussion on the negative impacts, such as housing crises and protests, is relevant but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure your introduction clearly outlines your stance and provide more nuanced, accurate support for your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into two main paragraphs, but the logical progression within them is sometimes disjointed. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'But' and 'This is the reason', but they are often used in a simplistic or mechanical way. The transition between ideas is occasionally abrupt, making the flow feel a bit fragmented. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and paragraphs more smoothly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some inaccuracies, such as 'bridge the gape' (should be 'gap') and 'keep in line everyone to there local customs' (should be 'their'). You rely on fairly common vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'socio-economic impact', 'cultural preservation', or 'infrastructure strain', and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'the local people are the one that need' (should be 'ones'), 'Problems extends' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'more then' (should be 'more than'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences being run-ons or missing necessary commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent use of articles, and proofreading for basic punctuation errors.
