Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 202 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, leading to an incomplete essay that cuts off abruptly in the second body paragraph. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments are underdeveloped due to the lack of length. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full conclusion and expand on your supporting points with more detailed examples and analysis to fully address all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover', but the flow is often disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which hinders the overall logical progression of the argument. The relationship between ideas is sometimes unclear due to the fragmented nature of the sentences. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by fully developed supporting ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good' or 'improvement' and struggle with collocations, such as 'catalyst roles' or 'devastation situation'. There are also several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'decline bridge in the gap' and 'wasting products'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'economic prosperity' instead of 'economic improvement' or 'environmental degradation' instead of 'devastation situation'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('tourism industry increase', 'tourist spends money'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are awkward or incomplete, such as 'the cycle contributes residents life style'. The range of structures is limited, and the errors are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct verb forms and proper use of prepositions and articles.
