Student answer (Band 5.0)
So today our topic of discussion is about tourism and its benefits or its problems or side effects. So as we know that now we are in the age science and technology and now the world is progressing day by day and man is discovering more and more unbelievable wonders of world. So the peoples are eager and willing to discover beautiful and amazing places and areas. So due to this the field of tourism is growing and people mostly visit beautiful and peaceful areas and become happy and feel the peace and calm and see the beauty of nature. People mostly in summer go to hilly and mountains areas and discover the beautiful and charming scenery and it also have some benefits and some side effects. The benefits are that the trade and business and job opportunities are increase with tourism and house made things take some importance and small industry progressing. And the peoples have more and more opportunities for work and they can earn by benefit and wonderful ideas and become successful in their lives. It also have some side effects as we know that the local peoples face some problems due to tourism like the the peoples throw the garbage in the natural and beautiful lakes and waterfalls. And they tease and hurt the local peoples unknowingly in the some ways. But in my point of view the tourism has more benefits than its harms because it is the beneficial. So we can encourage the tourism and also make some tourism developement institutes and they provide the all facilities to the people who visit that areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging both the benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. However, the development of ideas is quite superficial. While you mention economic benefits and environmental damage, these points are not supported with specific examples or detailed explanations, remaining at a general level. The position is clear, but the argument lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should dedicate separate paragraphs to the benefits and the drawbacks, providing concrete examples (e.g., specific countries or types of tourism) to substantiate your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is written as a single paragraph, which significantly hinders the logical flow and structure. A formal essay should be divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive, with almost every sentence beginning with 'So' or 'And'. This makes the writing feel informal and mechanical. To improve, you must use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') and organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs to guide the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'beautiful', 'amazing', and 'good' (implied). There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'house made things' instead of 'local handicrafts' and 'tourism developement institutes'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To reach a higher band, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to tourism and economics, and try to avoid repeating the same adjectives throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'job opportunities are increase', 'it also have some side effects') and incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'the peoples', 'that areas'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many run-on sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Once these are consistent, work on incorporating complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
