Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is no denying that tourism can be considered one of the quickest rising industries which contributes a huge portion to the economy of the world but some people say that a lot of tourists harm their culture as well as environment.
I completely agree with them and the reasons will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
The first and foremost reason tourists are destroying local culture as well as the environment is by drawing or putting things that are hard to remove on the cultural sites as well as on historical architectural sites which might cause damage to the building's walls. For example, a lot of people put metal keychains or chains with their names or memories on railings of those historical buildings.
Another cause that makes people believe that the tourists hurt the local culture and environment is that they throw their trash everywhere and think its not their job to put it in the bin, it have become a major issue at beaches as well as mountains too. For instance, Goa is a popular place with lots of beaches, of which a lot are now destroyed because of trash.
Another evidence that was found out is that a lot of tourists hurt the local culture of a place by trying to impose their religious rules on others which do not care about them as well as it hurts their feelings as the other person is trying to illustrate their religion as inferior. To exemplify with it, a lot of people try to make their friends agree to eat or not eat something just because it doesn't follow their religion.
Concluding the topic, all the reasons prove that tourists are hurting places culturally as well as environmentally and hence should be taken control of via local police as well as security cameras.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing relevant arguments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about tourists imposing religious rules is a bit tangential and lacks a clear connection to the environmental or cultural damage mentioned in the prompt. While the essay covers both culture and environment, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and could be more deeply explored with more specific, academic examples. The conclusion is brief and introduces a new idea (police and security cameras) that was not previously discussed, which is a minor weakness in task development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'Another cause', and 'Concluding the topic'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural. The paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct point, which helps the reader follow the argument despite some minor issues with transition and sentence-level cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'drawing or putting things' and 'hurt the local culture' are somewhat simplistic. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'historical architectural sites'), but the overall range is limited. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'quickest rising industries' instead of 'fastest-growing industries'. The student relies on basic collocations and would benefit from using more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions to convey their ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'it have become' (subject-verb agreement) and 'To exemplify with it' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences that could be broken up for clarity. While the student attempts complex structures, the control is inconsistent, leading to errors in tense and preposition usage. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and refining the accuracy of complex sentence constructions.
