Student answer (Band 5.5)

At present, we can see that global tourism flourished across the world, and this industry gave many benefits to their economies, but somehow it bring about several detrimental effects to local cultures and environment and these effects are ignored. In this essay, I will give my personal judgement.

Firstly, tourism is the main reason in the development of many small and destitute countries of developing world. It spread prosperity in those countries. For instance, those countries who were under stress of their economical growth, are now climbing in terms of development, with the help of their tourism. Tourists across the world want to explore new tourists destination, and in search of these, they went to these countries, who has beautiful sites and huge potential in terms of tourism.

In addition to that, tourism is also take part in producing more jobs option, for example, when a tourism of some region is initiating to grow, there will be more work opportunity for local members of that zone. More people will connect to this industry and start to take responsibility of their family. In this method all the region started to increase their economical resources. Tourism assist to reduce the poverty in that region.

On the other hand, some people believed that it damage the local culture and their environment. But I think that, these things will resolve by some kind of planning. If you focus to develop a region with the help of tourism with proper contemplate, then these issues will resolve easily.

To conclude that, Tourism is playing its crucial role in developing the economies across the world, and there are also some awful effects of it on local culture and environment, and in my opinion these effects are nothing in front of its edges and can be resolved with some thinking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging both the economic benefits and the negative impacts of tourism. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that tourism helps developing countries, the explanation is repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples to support your claims. The counter-argument regarding cultural and environmental damage is addressed, but the rebuttal is vague, suggesting that 'planning' will resolve these issues without explaining how or providing evidence. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed analysis and specific real-world examples to substantiate your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition to that', and 'On the other hand'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'In this method all the region started to increase their economical resources'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the economic benefits and the environmental concerns could be smoother to improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'economical resources' and 'developing countries'. There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'tourism is also take part in producing' (should be 'plays a part in creating') and 'these effects are nothing in front of its edges' (a non-standard expression). To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this industry gave', 'tourism is also take part'), article usage ('the development of many small and destitute countries of developing world'), and tense consistency. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered accurate. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical rules, particularly verb forms and the correct use of articles.
