Student answer (Band 5.0)
Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a great deal to economies around the world . The damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment.
I think tourism is the one fastest growing industry that contributes a great deal with economy around the world . I am totally disagree with this we should never ignore the causes that make tourism weak .
The main causes of tourism damages is local cultures that make tourists disappointed , and that make them to give negative rating to this . The second main point is the environment that should not be ignored . The clean and neutral environment attract the tourist and force them to give positive ratings.
If the causes will be ignored that make tourism damage it also damage the fastest growing economy around the world . For example if one tourist is disappointed about the environment and local cultures that force him to give negative ratings . The negative ratings damage the tourism which directly effect on the growing industries and a great effect on the economies around the world .
If the causes will be not ignored and try to make tourism better with the better cultures and the environment . For example , If the tourism is more good then past it will be attract the tourist and increase the good rating it will be make economy strong and help in growing industries .
I am totally disagree with we make tourism better by making local cultures and environment good.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The argument focuses heavily on 'ratings' and 'disappointment' rather than exploring the broader environmental or cultural impacts mentioned in the prompt. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion is somewhat disjointed from the main body. While the position is clear, the lack of depth and the narrow focus on customer satisfaction as a proxy for environmental and cultural damage prevents a higher score. To improve, you should provide specific examples of how tourism impacts local heritage or ecosystems.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often mechanical and repetitive. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'The main causes', but they are sometimes used inaccurately or in a way that makes the flow feel unnatural. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring back to 'the causes'. The logical flow is hindered by the repetitive nature of the arguments, which makes the essay feel like it is circling the same point rather than building a coherent argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'good', 'damage', 'growing', and 'ratings'. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, sustainability, or socio-economic impacts. Some word choices are awkward, such as 'make tourism weak' or 'make tourism better'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of collocations and more precise terminology to express your ideas with greater clarity and variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The main causes... is'), article usage, and sentence structure ('I am totally disagree with this'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty or contain errors in word order. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation limits the score. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would significantly improve your writing.
