Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are debates that tourism which is one of the fastest growing industries and happens to contribute a great deal to economies over the world is causing damage to local cultures and environments which are often ignored. Tourism remains one of the oldest form of entertainment around the world and in this essay I would take my stand in the following paragraphs.
One of the benefits of tourism is that it gives global recognition as many people around the world would always be curious to tour and experience the environment. Also, government can utilize this opportunity and develop more on public services like roads, airports, more transportation, accommodations. This is very important as it can generate more funds to the government because international tourists who wants to explore other part of the environments can have a means of transportation which is readily available and this can be achieved with a good road and good airlines for international tourist. Also, they would need accomodations for a short-term stay and with the presence of a restaurants tourist might try some local foods.
Although, certain damages might be caused by tourist which can include not obeying the rules and regulations in the environments, there can also be an overly increase in accommodations for local individuals living close to the tour environment as an influence caused by visitors who are renting those places on short-term, there can also be shortage of resources like water due to increase in household use.
In my perspective, I strongly disagree that these damages are totally ignored and this is due to the fact that most tourist centers have strong strict rules and regulations guarding them and most penalties for failed rules amount a fine, so most tourist are very careful to avoid short-comings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you acknowledge the benefits of tourism and the potential for damage, your argument regarding the 'ignored' nature of these damages is weak. You state that you disagree that damages are ignored because of strict rules, but this does not fully engage with the complexity of the issue, such as the environmental degradation that often persists despite regulations. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed explanations and concrete evidence for your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Also' and 'Although', to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes repetitive and mechanical. For instance, starting multiple sentences with 'Also' makes the flow feel a bit simplistic. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the benefits of tourism and the discussion of damages. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'accommodations', 'public services', and 'regulations'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward word choices, such as 'overly increase' instead of 'significant increase' or 'short-comings' used in a context where 'penalties' or 'infractions' would be more precise. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations, and ensure that your word choices are consistently accurate and appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you are able to communicate your ideas, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('tourist who wants' instead of 'tourists who want') and awkward phrasing ('there are debates that tourism which is...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in complex sentences. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
