Student answer (Band 6.0)
Tourism is a huge industry and it contributes a significant amount to economies of many countries around the globe. Although sometimes the cultural and environmental damages caused by tourism ignored I believe that many organizations are highlighting these issues and authorities are trying to address these problems.
Governments are developing various types of projects and schemes to reduce environmental and cultural damages. Authorities have established special tourist police which persuade the visitors to take accurate routes and avoid rash driving which can cause traffic jams and traffic accidents. They banned old and unfit vehicles from several visiting points because these emit hazardous gases. Consequently, it will reduce the air and noise pollution in these areas. Municipal authorities implement strict policies regarding the waste management because they contribute to reduce landscape's beauty and threatening for the water bodies. To prevent local culture, governments prohibit the tourists to enter in local areas without permission. Moreover, governments provide schedules and plans to tourists to avoid over crowding and traffic jams during local festivals. For instance, KPK government developed several guidelines to limit tourists on weekends and special occasions to prevent any unpleasant situation.
However, sometimes governments are unsuccessful to provide solution for the long term environmental problems like controlling gases from vehicles and tackling wastage issue but they are trying hard to prevent damages to the local communities and environments by taking different measures. They are investing a big proportion of their budget on reducing the negative impact of tourism on the environment.
In conclusion, the authorities are taking several measures like managing traffic and waste and providing tourists with schedules to reduce negative impact on the nature and locals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging the negative impacts of tourism while arguing that authorities are actively mitigating these issues. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide specific examples of government intervention, such as 'tourist police' and 'waste management policies,' the discussion remains focused almost exclusively on government actions. To achieve a higher band, you should broaden the scope to discuss whether these measures are truly sufficient or if the damage is fundamentally unavoidable, thereby providing a more nuanced evaluation of the 'extent' to which you agree or disagree.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Consequently,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion,' which help the flow of the text. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the second paragraph and the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is consistently clear would enhance the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hazardous gases,' 'municipal authorities,' and 'unpleasant situation.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'prevent local culture' (should be 'protect') and 'threatening for the water bodies' (should be 'a threat to'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'damages caused by tourism ignored' (missing 'are'), 'contribute to reduce' (should be 'contribute to reducing'), and 'prohibit the tourists to enter' (should be 'prohibit tourists from entering'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more consistent control over verb patterns and article usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring grammatical accuracy will help improve this score.
