Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. For instance, the conclusion simply restates the introduction rather than synthesising the main points. The ideas regarding economic benefits and environmental damage are mentioned but lack specific, well-supported examples. To improve, you must expand your analysis with more depth and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for full development of your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'On the flip side', but the connection between sentences is often mechanical. The repetition of the same phrases in the introduction and conclusion suggests a lack of planning and makes the text feel circular. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by the lack of substantive content between the opening and closing statements.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently reuse phrases such as 'fastest growing industries' and 'contributes a great deal to economics'. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'dumbing waste' (likely meaning 'dumping') and 'beneficial for the nation' (should be 'a benefit to the nation'). To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and use it with more precision, avoiding simple errors that occasionally impede the clarity of your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Examples include 'it improve overall GDP' (subject-verb agreement), 'the the environment' (repetition), and 'tourism has a beneficial for the nation' (incorrect structure). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and diversifying your sentence structures while ensuring they are grammatically sound.
