Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely believed that while rapid expansion of tourism drives economic growth globally, its detrimental effects on the local heritage and the environment are frequently overlooked. I completely agree with this view that its negative impacts are much more on society than its beneficial aspect because its despite its financial benefits ,tourism creates long term environmental and cultural degradation.
First and foremost, tourism brings a substantial number of foreign people to a country which ultimately result in pollution as a result the this issue wild life in these areas is disturbed significantly. In addition, pollution cause various health issues to local residents of that area as well. Moreover, because of this trend natural resources are depleted such as water and forests. For instance, plastic waste at historical or natural reserves and overcrowding are some negative impacts of tourism.
On the other hand, tourism encourages the pathway for local businesses such as it promote hotels, transport and restaurants and assist youth with job opportunities as in this growing technology era, most of our younger generation suffer with unemployment. For instance, now a days, youngsters are moving to other countries in search of jobs, if there are considerable amount jobs are available they reside in their own country instead of migrating to foreign countries for employment. Tourism fosters infrastructure development with foreign revenue which ultimately improves roads, airports and health services.
In conclusion, tourism is an imperative step toward economic growth, there must sustainable tourism strategies so that local culture and environment should be safe. Governments should implement strict rules to protect these breathtaking places for our future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The introduction states a clear agreement with the negative impacts of tourism, and the body paragraphs provide relevant arguments for both sides. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the environmental concerns are mentioned, they are listed rather than deeply explored. The counter-argument regarding economic benefits is better developed, but the overall essay would benefit from more specific, concrete examples beyond general statements like 'plastic waste' or 'hotels'. The conclusion effectively summarises the position and offers a recommendation, meeting the requirements for a balanced task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the negative impacts to the economic benefits and finally to a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'as a result the this issue wild life'. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better sentence-to-sentence cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'detrimental', 'degradation', and 'imperative'. However, there are also some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'encourages the pathway for local businesses' and 'considerable amount jobs'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Spelling is generally accurate, though the phrasing is sometimes slightly unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the this issue'), subject-verb agreement ('pollution cause'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. For example, 'if there are considerable amount jobs are available they reside...' is grammatically flawed. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the mistakes do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
