Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the benefits of tourism outweigh the drawbacks. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of Sri Lanka's cultural events. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic benefits are explained, the discussion on environmental and cultural damage is slightly more generalized. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that the link between your examples and the main argument is more explicit and that the conclusion summarizes the main points more effectively rather than just restating the position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'In addition,' 'Consequently,' and 'However,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by minor grammatical errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'Although, it has numerous benefits, the adverse effects also there.' The use of referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be tightened to ensure a more seamless flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'integrated,' 'heritage sites,' and 'deforestation.' There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally used with slight inaccuracies, such as 'unique cultural iconic' (should be 'icons') and 'make attract' (should be 'to attract'). Spelling is generally accurate, but there are minor slips like 'perahara' (should be 'Perahera') and 'frome.' To improve, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly with articles ('the tourism,' 'the environment'), subject-verb agreement ('tourism increase'), and sentence fragments or run-on structures ('when the tourism develop, the more employment opportunites are available'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and refining your control over articles and verb forms will help you achieve a higher score.
