Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been a matter of debate for a while that tourism is causing harm to the local communities and their sentiments. As it was observed that people are disrespecting their scared holy sites and are found to be polluting the tourist places. According to my perspective, I strongly agree with this view. This essay will discuss the underlying issues.
One of the significant reasons why excessive tourism is considered as a demerit is because people are now oblivious to the fact that some holy sites demands respect. As most people need to understand and regard some religious area's out of admiration but tourists start making fun of those miniature creatures looks. For instance, people in Sir Lanka have closed down some of their temples as people were defying the temple rules which meant disrespecting the Buddha's'
Additionally, it was also observed that most tourists start littering around in public places if they are unable find any trash bins. This creates land pollution and causes damage to the environment which ultimately, leads to various diseases. For example, it was reported by the Italy's government two years back that they have closed their lakes in Venice for public due to excessive littering in lakes.
In conclusion, I firmly agree with the fact that tourism has more drawbacks as compared to it's merits. As it burdensome the government and local people to keep the city clean and they have to do extra grunt work for that. Consequently, it creates overcrowding in public places which creates congestion in public places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position and providing supporting arguments regarding cultural disrespect and environmental damage. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Sri Lanka is vague and lacks clarity, and the conclusion introduces a new point about 'burdensome' government work that was not previously discussed. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea and that your conclusion strictly summarises the points already made rather than introducing new arguments. The response is relevant, but the depth of analysis is inconsistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'One of the significant reasons', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion', to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with referencing and flow. For example, the phrase 'miniature creatures looks' in the second paragraph is unclear and disrupts the logical progression of your argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects smoothly to the next will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'oblivious', 'demerit', and 'congestion'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'scared holy sites' (likely meaning 'sacred') and 'burdensome the government' (incorrect verb usage). Additionally, there are minor spelling and punctuation errors, such as 'it's' instead of 'its' and 'Buddha's''. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for the vocabulary you use and proofread carefully to avoid basic errors that detract from your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'some holy sites demands') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed correctly will help you achieve a higher band in this criterion.
