Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position regarding the economic benefits and the negative impacts of tourism, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The arguments regarding environmental damage and policy solutions are underdeveloped due to the unfinished nature of the text. To improve, you must ensure that all parts of the prompt are fully addressed with sufficient supporting evidence and that the essay reaches the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows a basic logical progression, with an introduction, a body paragraph on benefits, and a start to a paragraph on negative impacts. However, the abrupt ending prevents a cohesive conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Although', 'One of the major advantages', and 'However', but the flow is interrupted by the incomplete final paragraph. Paragraphing is present but the final paragraph is left unfinished, which disrupts the overall structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you include a concluding summary that synthesizes your main points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'large amount of Revenue' and 'major advantages' repeatedly. There are also some errors in capitalization, such as 'todays World' and 'Economic', and minor collocation issues. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'socio-economic development', 'environmental degradation', or 'sustainable tourism practices', and ensure consistent attention to word choice and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Countries such as saudia Arabia has'), incorrect use of articles, and punctuation errors. The sentence 'Although, I strongly agree that tourism can contribute to a great deal in the economic growth globally' is grammatically awkward. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur frequently enough to cause some distraction. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex sentence structures.
