Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is no doubt that tourism is one of the fastest growing industry and it also boost the countries GDP. However if there are some benefits of it and also it has some negative effects on nature. In this essay we discuss both advantages and the disadvantages of tourism. To the began I strongly believe that tourism is very important for a country because it supports the countries capital. For example the Spain country earns a handsome amount from tourism because when the foreigners apply a visiting visa to another country they had to pay the fees for visas or for appoinment , in this way a country earn from tourists. There is another reason that when tourists are coming to other countries, they rent out the hotels and also bought the food for eating from local peoples. In this way the business of local people increased and they also earn well. The tourists also did some adventures and bought tickets for exploring different places, in this way foreigners also consume their money in different countries and the business of local people also increased. There is also negative affects of tourists on local people . I think in developing countries people influence the dressings of foreigners and shock to see their small clothes and they thought their sense of dressing is worst as compared to foreigners. In my opinion tourism is a good opportunity to a country to boost their GDP and tourism also support the local businesses and support their way of living.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but fails to maintain a clear position throughout. While you acknowledge both sides, the essay structure is more of a 'discuss both views' format rather than a clear argument regarding 'to what extent' you agree or disagree. The ideas are somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the point about visa fees is not a strong argument for the economic benefits of tourism, and the discussion on cultural impact is vague and lacks depth. To improve, ensure your position is stated clearly in the introduction and maintained consistently, with each paragraph providing well-supported arguments that directly address the prompt's focus on cultural and environmental damage.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition 'To the began' is incorrect and awkward. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive (e.g., 'in this way') or misused, which makes the flow mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that connects logically to the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'boost the countries GDP' (should be 'boost a country's GDP') and 'supports the countries capital' (likely meaning 'economy' or 'revenue'). Phrases like 'small clothes' to describe cultural differences are imprecise and lack the academic tone required for this task. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use less common items accurately. To improve, focus on learning collocations and academic terminology related to economics and sociology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement ('tourism... boost', 'tourists... did some adventures'), article usage ('the Spain country'), and tense consistency ('tourists are coming... bought the food'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing and misuse of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct verb tense usage, before attempting more complex structures.
