Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the negative cultural impacts, thus touching upon both parts of the prompt. However, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed due to the extreme brevity of the text, reaching only 150 words compared to the required 250-word minimum. The position is somewhat evident, but the development relies on anecdotal and highly personal assertions rather than well-supported general arguments. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, which significantly impacts task fulfilment. Consequently, the descriptor profile best aligns with a Band 4.0, as the response falls short of fully exploring the task and fails the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text lacks clear overall progression and proper paragraphing. The response consists of a run-on opening section followed by an abrupt shift to an anecdote without clear transitions. Cohesive devices are largely absent or inadequate, with the writer relying on repetitive phrasing such as 'through the help of tourism'. Paragraph structure is completely neglected, with the entire essay divided into arbitrary blocks rather than cohesive thematic paragraphs. Referencing is also weak and confusing at times. This lack of organisational control clearly reflects the descriptors for Band 4.0, where information is not arranged coherently and logical progression is missing.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and restricted to simple everyday terms such as 'good', 'job', 'culture', and 'tourism'. There are repeated word choices and a lack of less common or idiomatic lexical items. Vocabulary errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'people who comes from another country to visits is called tourist' and 'vibe before in lok geet', demonstrate limited control over word choice and collocation. The range is minimally adequate for basic communication, but the frequency of errors and lack of lexical variety fit the Band 4.0 descriptor where vocabulary is basic and repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple and poorly controlled compound sentences. There are frequent and intrusive grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people who comes', 'tourism did'), run-on sentences lacking punctuation, and incorrect tense usage. Complex sentence structures are absent, and basic punctuation is largely ignored, which severely strains the reader's understanding. These persistent errors and the lack of a variety of structures correspond closely to the Band 4.0 descriptors, where errors are frequent and grammatical control is weak.
