Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism is one of the quickest and main contributors to economic developement globally. some people belives that tourism industry to be developed without thinking about the impact, while iam siding with the oponion that tourism impact the cultures of nations as well as the environment. this essay discuss both views.

some people saying that tourism is the drive of economic growth that should be improved further regardless of the consequences to enhance the income of the country. having visitors and spending money during their stay will flowing the money into the country. furthremore, visitors's expenditure are contributing to all other sectors and helping local businessto sell and earn more. for instance, Turkey is ranked among the most visited country that their economy is heavily relying on the tourism sector. having said that, promoting economy can be targeted by attracting more tourist to your country.

On the other hand, i believe the drawback of tourism is outweight the economic growth due to the cause and damage to the local cultures and environment. usually visitors are strange to the countries and not adhering to the local rules to protect the environement and clean theri wastes. a clear example is they become selfish and make an effort to make a memorable trip without cleaning their rubbish and wastes. Moreover, tourism influences the customs of people when peole are coming from different culture and backgrounds. for instance, in my country visitors wears a short jeans that are unacceptable and weird habit to the local residents.

In conclusion, despite the impact of tourism sector on the country's wealth. i think the disadventages are ignored in that sector which need a clear rules to mitigate the risk on the local custom and the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the economic benefits of tourism and the negative impacts on cultures and the environment, thereby presenting a clear position. However, the introductory statement 'this essay discuss both views' contradicts the prompt type which asks 'To what extent do you agree or disagree?' and your own stated position 'iam siding with the oponion'. Despite this mixed phrasing, the essay does adopt a discernible perspective arguing that drawbacks outweigh the economic growth. Ideas are supported with examples, such as Turkey's tourism reliance and inappropriate tourist attire in local communities, though some arguments remain somewhat generalised. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into four distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a coherent overall arrangement, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical, with inappropriate transitional phrases or abrupt shifts (for example, starting the second body paragraph with 'some people saying that...' immediately after the introduction). Referencing and pronoun use are occasionally unclear, and logical links between sentences can be repetitive or weak. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better control to achieve a higher band, making Band 6.0 a fair and accurate assessment.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'economic growth', 'consequences', 'expenditure', and 'mitigate'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'developement', 'belives', 'oponion', 'furthremure', 'businessto', 'outweight', and 'disadventages'. Furthermore, phrases like 'visitors's expenditure' and 'wears a short jeans' reveal awkward collocations and grammatical slips. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, as the control over less common vocabulary lacks precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'having visitors and spending money during their stay will flowing the money into the country'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('tourists is', 'economy are heavily relying', 'drawback... is outweight'), incorrect verb tenses and forms ('will flowing', 'clean theri wastes'), and missing capitalization or punctuation control. Although the writer attempts complex sentences, they are frequently faulty, leading to noticeable strain for the reader. These recurring errors place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 category.
