Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, Tourism is considered to be one of the fastest growing industries which substantially plays huge role in contributing towards the economy around the world. However, it also has adverse effect on local cultures and the environment.
I partially agree with this point because almost every change in our environment will have pro's & con's.
Tourism industries push the world economy to revolve around which maintains a sort of balance & also provides new experience to the people who visit different parts of the world. This industry is not just about visiting other countries, it also allows tourists to visit various ancient and modern culture within their domestic region.
Considering about the damage, It totally depends on the acceptance and denial of the local people around for the culture which are newly introduced to them through several kind of tourists. For example, Many people visit Goa for peace vibe near beaches & lush green environment whereas majority of tourist plans their weekend vacations for late night parties herld at various bollywood and techno clubs over there.
Nepal is also a great place for tourist. The major economy of Nepal is from tourist industry.Recently, a huge landslide happened there which causes sudden death of more than 50 people with severe injuries to other. This was totally a natural disaster which is totally uncontrollable. The local people of Nepal don't really give too much importance to night life culture over there.
So, the damage caused from tourism to local cultures totally depends on the local people & concern for the environment is still legitimate but it is uncontollable for humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a partial agreement regarding the economic benefits versus the cultural and environmental damages of tourism. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally shifts off-topic. For instance, the paragraph discussing Nepal attributes a major natural landslide directly to the tourism industry, which reflects a flawed line of reasoning regarding environmental damage. The arguments regarding cultural acceptance are presented but remain underdeveloped, lacking clear elaboration. While the student does take a position and attempts to support it with examples such as Goa and Nepal, the ideas lack the depth and extension required for a higher band. Consequently, the performance aligns with the Band 5 descriptors where ideas are limited and partially under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organization with an introduction, body points, and a concluding sentence, but it lacks clear overall progression and logical paragraphing. The text is divided into dense blocks with inadequate spacing and abrupt transitions between ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'However' and 'So' in ways that create disjointed logical links. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the sudden pivot from the Goa example to Nepal without sufficient transitional framing. Furthermore, formatting issues like missing spaces after punctuation marks ('world. However', 'damage, It', 'tourist. The') detract from the readability of the text. Overall, the structural control falls squarely into the Band 5 category due to inadequate and repetitive cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'industries', 'economies', 'adverse effect', and 'landslide'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout, such as 'peace vibe', 'herld' (instead of held), and referring to natural disasters as something 'uncontollable for humans' in the context of tourism-induced environmental damage. Spelling errors like 'uncontollable' and grammatical collocation slips (e.g., 'plays huge role' without an article) are noticeable. Although the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, these errors and the restricted range of less common lexical items place this text at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple sentence forms alongside some attempts at complex structures, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('plays huge role', 'from tourist industry'), punctuation errors (spacing after periods and commas), and subject-verb agreement or phrasing inaccuracies (e.g., 'majority of tourist plans', 'which causes sudden death'). The attempts at complex clauses often result in faulty punctuation or run-on sentences. Because frequent errors persist and occasionally cause minor difficulty for the reader in untangling the intended meaning, the grammatical performance is best described by the Band 5 descriptors.
