Student answer (Band 5.0)

Tourism is the fastest growing industries around the world and it also contributes a great and high deal to economies.I agreed the statement to a great extent that damage tourism can cause issues like local cultures and the environment is often ignored. I will give the reasons to support my answer.

Firstly, the tourist visit the places and government only sees money and ignore the negative effects of these. Government only need money and his ignorance effects the local cultures. Government only use their cultures for making money and coming generation also do that. It will destroy the local cultures of the country. If more visitors visit a place government only sees money and ignored the negative effects like most water is used for pools and in restaurants and there in no enough water for our fields.

For example, my friend visit a place it was very beautiful in past but now it became very dirty and lakes turned into sewage and worth of this place decrease because of government ignorance.

It also effect the environment because if tourists visits a place and the tourist increases the sewage system of place failed and it effected the greenery. Mountains, lakes and trees also effected by that. If the government only depend upon economy and ignored the effects whose tourists may caused, it will surely destroy the cultures and environment. So, slowly slowly economy will decrease and it will cause a serious issue for coming generation.

To sum up, damage tourism cause to local culture and environment so the government should not ignore the negative effects of tourism.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the negative impacts on local cultures and the environment, thereby fulfilling the general requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the student repeatedly asserts that 'government only sees money' without expanding on specific cultural or environmental consequences beyond general statements like 'water is used for pools' and 'lakes turned into sewage.' The position is clear throughout, but the support lacks depth and relies on vague assertions and an informal personal anecdote ('for example, my friend visit a place...'). These limitations place the response comfortably within the Band 5 criteria, as the ideas are under-developed and the exploration of the prompt remains basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, but it lacks clear overall progression and logical sequencing. Cohesive devices are frequently misused or overly repetitive; for example, phrases like 'Government only...' and 'If...' are used mechanically to link sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the main body paragraph is overly long, dense, and blends multiple distinct ideas together without smooth transitions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun shifts ('Government only need money and his ignorance...'). These issues result in a disjointed reading experience that aligns with the Band 5 descriptor for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'industries', 'economies', 'cultures', and 'environment'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'fastest growing industries' (instead of industry), 'contributes a great and high deal' (unnatural collocation), and 'worth of this place decrease' (incorrect phrasing). Additionally, spelling and word form errors are present, such as 'ignored' instead of ignores, 'effect' instead of affect, and 'slowly slowly'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5 level of lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic conditional or subordinate clauses (e.g., 'If more visitors visit a place government only sees money...'). Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, marred by significant errors in subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and article usage (e.g., 'the tourist visit', 'tourist increases the sewage system... failed', 'whose tourists may caused'). Punctuation errors are also notable, including missing spaces after periods. These frequent grammatical errors cause constant strain and difficulty for the reader, matching the profile for a Band 5 in grammatical range and accuracy.
