Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism is one of the rapid growing industries around the world and it contributes to the economies around the world in a great way. But i agree with the statement that it can cause damage to culture and environment to some extend . Carelessness and not valuing the local culture and environment is the main reason for the same.

As we know tourism is rapidly growing all over the world and it also contributes to the economies of the country. But there are a lot of people who misuse the local cultures and often damage the environment as well . Lot of people try to damage the historical belongings and sometimes they break a lot of things . Some people misuse that particular place for drinking and smoking as well. Moreover , a lot of places are found were people carve their names on historical places such as forts .Even if they are not allowed to touch some particular things , they break the rules . Hoverever , some familes bring snacks for consuming and instead of throwing wrappers and pastic bottles etc in dustbins which are been provided , they throw them anywhere which harm environment.

Goverment should look after all these issues because if all these practices continues then it will destroy our culture and environment as well. There are a lot of solutions to avoid such practices . One of the solution can be to start an entry fee for historical places so that even if anything is damaged they can use the entry fee of the rebrushment of the same . Even if people do the same . they need to charge an extra price for the same .

In conclusion, Tourism is fastest growing industry in the world and contribute to economies around the world but it also damages the local cultures and environment in many ways which can be avoided by entry fess or extra charges .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by acknowledging that tourism contributes to economies while also discussing the damage it causes to local cultures and the environment. A clear position is taken ('i agree with the statement'). However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep development. For instance, the discussion on environmental damage focuses primarily on littering and carving names on historical places without exploring broader cultural or economic nuances. The arguments are presented in a straightforward manner, but they tend to over-generalize rather than extend into more sophisticated supporting points. While the prompt is adequately covered, the lack of fully developed argumentation places this response securely within the Band 6 descriptor range, where relevant ideas are presented but remain slightly under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although the second body paragraph is quite dense and could have been broken down further. Cohesive devices are employed, but some are faulty, mechanical, or repetitively used (such as 'Moreover', 'Even if', and 'As we know'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance in phrases like 'the main reason for the same' and 'for the rebrushment of the same'. Progression is evident, but the logical links between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, restricting the flow of the text. Overall, the structural organisation aligns well with the requirements for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic ideas about tourism, economies, and environmental damage. However, the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'rapid growing' instead of 'rapidly growing', 'extend' instead of 'extent', 'belongings' instead of 'artifacts', 'were' instead of 'where', 'pastic' instead of 'plastic', and 'rebrushment' instead of 'refurbishment' or 'restoration'. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary, inaccuracies in collocation and spelling prevent the score from reaching a higher band. Communication is rarely impeded, but the lexical limitations place the response firmly at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are numerous punctuation and capitalization errors, such as the uncapitalized pronoun 'i', missing commas, and run-on sentences. Examples of structural awkwardness include 'if all these practices continues then it will destroy' and 'instead of throwing wrappers and pastic bottles etc in dustbins which are been provided'. While the writer attempts relative clauses and conditional structures, frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use persist. Because these errors occur regularly alongside a limited range of structures, a score of 5.0 is appropriate, reflecting frequent errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
