Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, tourism is one of the rapid growing industry around the world. It contributes significantly to the growth of economy of a country. Whereas the trouble and damage that tourism cause to local environment and culture are mostly ignored by authorities. I partially agree with this as tourists cause shortage of food and other supplies for local residents but at the same time this problem can be control easily with some rules and regulation for tourism. I will explain both sides with suitable examples and with my own opinion.
On the one hand, tourism is one of the most important industry for any
country. Tourism plays a significant role in making the economy of a country a much better place. When tourists visit a country, they explore the culture, its environment and spend better money to experience eveything. Government earns a significant amount of money from tourism and use it to improve the economic situation in a better and long term way. In 2018, singapore was the most visited country by tourists. According to a report, $1.75 Billion dollar earns only from tourism and the government then use that amount to make their country much better in technology and building more tourists spots.
On the other hand, there are several drawbacks of toursim which cannot be overlooked. Many reports says that tourism also damage the environment and culture of an economy. Tourism cause serious damage to environment by throwing waste, plastic etc.. to rivers and sidepaths which cause local people to do extra work and they cannot manage that much damage. Moreover, when the tourism increase much in a country then there is a shortage of food, water and electricity supply for local communites that cause serious trouble. For instance, in 2009, tourism takes a significant spike in vietnam which affect local residents food and water supplies.
In conclusion, from tourism, government earn significant amount which then used to make economy much better whilst it also cause shortage of food supplies and electricity for local residents. In my opinion, tourism has numerous advantages and its drawbacks can by reduced by developing special rules and regulations for tourism.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the negative impacts on local cultures and environments. The writer takes a clear position, stating partial agreement, and supports this with examples such as Singapore in 2018 and Vietnam in 2009. However, some of the ideas are slightly repetitive and under-developed, particularly regarding how rules and regulations can solve the issues. While the position is understandable, the argumentation lacks the depth and extension expected for a higher band. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, placing the response firmly at a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into a clear four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical progression. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts in argument, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and transitional phrases can be somewhat mechanical or awkward at times, as seen in 'from tourism, government earn significant amount'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but internal cohesion within paragraphs occasionally feels abrupt. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'contributes significantly', 'drawbacks', and 'overlooked'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'rapid growing industry' instead of 'rapidly growing industry', 'spend better money', and 'tourism takes a significant spike'. Spelling and word formation are generally clear, but slips like 'eveything' and 'communites' occur. The lexical range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but inaccuracies prevent it from reaching a higher band, making a Band 6.0 appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional ideas. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'tourism is one of the rapid growing industry' (should be plural 'industries'), 'government earn' (should be 'earns'), and 'problem can be control easily' (should be 'controlled'). Punctuation errors, such as comma splices and stray punctuation like 'etc..', are also present. These errors occasionally cause minor friction for the reader, placing this essay at a Band 5.5.
