Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the damage it causes to local cultures and the environment, thereby presenting a stance. However, the development of ideas is severely hindered by expression issues and vague referencing. Phrases like 'Categorically discussing, it cannot be ignored that the main reason behind this is that growth of some countries are depend on the tourism sector' lack clear supporting evidence and proper depth. Furthermore, the argument shifts erratically between economic gains and cultural impacts without sustained elaboration. While the student does express a clear position in the conclusion favouring tourism, the overall response lacks the fully developed ideas and well-supported argumentation required for higher bands. It aligns best with the Band 4 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text suffers from significant structural and organizational weaknesses. While paragraph breaks are attempted, the internal progression of ideas is frequently blocked by awkward transitions such as 'Probing ahead, the main underling solution steams from the fact...' and 'Moving futher...'. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and often inappropriately, creating confusion regarding the logical relationship between sentences. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'this' or 'it', leaving the reader struggling to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is disjointed, and the overall arrangement fails to provide a smooth, coherent progression of arguments. These features place the response firmly in Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and plagued by frequent errors in word choice and spelling that often strain the reader. Examples of non-standard or misspelled lexical items include 'claming' instead of claiming, 'benifical' instead of beneficial, 'stamement', 'underling', 'steams', 'pertient', 'culters', 'afforementioned', 'openion', 'toursim', and 'basies'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'controversial' and 'categorically', but these are used inaccurately. The restricted and inaccurate lexical range significantly impedes clear communication, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 4 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. The text consists of overly long, convoluted sentences that lack proper structural integrity, such as the opening sentence which runs on endlessly without a clear main clause structure. There are numerous basic grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('growth of some countries are depend'), incorrect verb forms, and missing prepositions. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with the final sentence trailing off incompletely. While there are a few simple structures that are recognizable, the high frequency of grammatical errors frequently distorts meaning and causes severe difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 4 descriptors.
