Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued by many that the travel sector is one of the most rapid developing industries and contributes a batter deal to economies overall the world. While the damage tourism can reason to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. I Partily agree with this statement because of many reasons. which I will discuss in the upcoming paragarphs.

To begin with, tourists often incur significant expenses when visiting other countries. They have to purchase expensive air tickets, as well as pay for accommodations and hotel stays,Furthermore, they must allocate funds for transportation, such as hiring cars or taxis to visit historical and tourist sites. Additionally , tourists often purchase traditional clothing or couvenirs, which contributes to the local economy, consepquently, tourists' expenditures have a direct and indriect impact on boosting the economy of the visited nation.

On the other hand, tourism can has adverse effects on the environment . WHne tourists visit historical sites, they often disregard local rules and regualtions, resulting in litter and pollution. The demend for transportation , such as hiring taxis and cars, also contributes to the depletion of natural resources and pollution. Morever, some tourists engage in vandalism , such as writing on wells, which can demage the historical significance and aesthetic appeal of these sities. These significance and asethtic appeal of these sites. These nagative impacts cannot be overlooked and ti is essential cannot be overlooked and it is essential for goveronment to implement measures to mitigate them.

In conclusion, while tourism can have numerous benefits for a nation's economy, it also has significant negative effects on the environments that must be addressed. In my opinion, it would be beneficial for tourists to familiarize themselves with local rules and regulations prior to visiting a destination. This can be achieved by researching the Place's guidelines on the internet, which would not only benefit the local community but also tourists themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting an opinion on the impact of tourism on the economy, culture, and environment. The position is clear throughout, and the essay is extended with relevant, though somewhat basic, arguments. For instance, the economic benefits are illustrated by mentioning air tickets, hotel stays, and purchasing souvenirs. Similarly, environmental drawbacks are supported by discussing litter, pollution, and vandalism at historical sites. However, some ideas tend to be slightly repetitive and are not fully developed to a Band 7 level, as certain points lack deeper elaboration. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the Band 6 descriptors where all parts are covered with relevant ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty, mechanical, or punctuated incorrectly, such as 'Furthermore, they must...' and the broken sentence fragment 'Which I will discuss in the upcoming paragarphs.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and punctuation errors around conjunctions and transitions detract from the flow. While the progression of ideas is generally understandable, the mechanical nature of the cohesion and mechanical referencing errors prevent it from reaching a higher band. Paragraphing is present and divides the essay into logical thematic blocks.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'aesthetic appeal,' 'depletion of natural resources,' and 'mitigate them.' However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'batter deal' instead of 'better deal,' 'Partily' instead of 'partially,' 'paragarphs' instead of 'paragraphs,' 'couvenirs' instead of 'souvenirs,' 'consepquently' instead of 'consequently,' 'indriect' instead of 'indirect,' 'WHne' instead of 'When,' 'demend' instead of 'demand,' 'Morever' instead of 'Moreover,' 'demage' instead of 'damage,' 'sities' instead of 'sites,' and 'goveronment' instead of 'government.' These lexical and spelling errors do not completely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'While the damage tourism can reason to local cultures and the environment is often ignored, I partily agree...' and conditional or relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, such as sentence fragments ('Which I will discuss in the upcoming paragarphs.'), incorrect verb forms ('tourism can has adverse effects'), typographical issues, and awkward phrasing ('resulting in litter and pollution'). Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces before commas and periods. Although these errors do not obscure the overall meaning of the text, they occur frequently across most sentences, keeping the performance within the Band 5 bracket.
