Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, tourism is one of the largest growing industries and great deal to economics of the nations. For many people, tourism is a source of joy and calmness. However, there are both pros and cons to deciding to do this. In this essay, I will discuss some of the reasons why tourism is one os the fasted growing activity and some of the challenges to be overcome.

Let`s begin by looking at the advantages of tourism and its contibution to the economy. One of the main positives of tourism is that people tour the place with their family, friends and class mates that facilitates the onness of their strong bond and other side country make much money from tourist places and this money plays crucial role in the country economy. For instance, Murree and Naran Kaghan and other such type of tourism places play important role to make more money. This can make country developed.

Secondly, tourism industries make more job oppurtunities so that jobless persons easily get job and participate in country`s economy. Take Rawalpindi Joyland that offers many jobs to individuals and many individuals get job their for an example.

Turning the other side of the argument, tourism can cause some serious risks such as crowded people at tourism places sometimes cuase of the pollution and worst facilities or improper actions by government could damage the places and places could become boring. Let`s look at Shahi Qila, Lahore there is no proper government facilities and Shahi Qila is not good in shape. This often leads to destroy tourism places and by destroy these places could result in the decling in economy of the country.

Another issue is that no proper involvment of government can cause the damage of the local historical culture of the tourism places. And this damage can change a tourism place to ordinary place and no one visit that place again so this is the one of the main damage.

Personally, I believe the benefits in terms of economic growth and development eventually outweigh any negative and I agree that tourism is one of the fastest growing activity and also it plays very important role to deal with economies as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the potential damage to local cultures and the environment, thereby presenting a clear position. In the introduction, the writer outlines their intention to discuss both the reasons for growth and the challenges. Ideas are generally relevant, citing examples such as Murree and Shahi Qila, Lahore, which helps support the arguments. However, some ideas are repetitive or under-developed, particularly when explaining the cultural and environmental impacts, where explanations tend to be brief and somewhat superficial. The conclusion clearly states the writer's stance that the economic benefits outweigh the negative aspects. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed with relevant, albeit somewhat simplified, ideas and a clear position is maintained throughout, this performance aligns well with Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is divided into distinct paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing economic pros and environmental cons, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is at times disrupted by abrupt transitions and somewhat repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, but they can be mechanical or inappropriate, such as 'Turning the other side of the argument' and 'Let`s begin by looking at'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing could be used more purposefully to separate distinct ideas more cleanly. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow the writer's line of thought, the mechanical use of cohesion and occasional organizational awkwardness place this text firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, warranting a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully using terms like 'economies', 'advantages', 'environment', and 'economic growth'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'largest growing industries' instead of 'fastest growing', 'onness of their strong bond', 'tourist places' used repeatedly instead of 'tourist destinations', and 'decling'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'involvment' and 'oppurtunities', but these are marred by spelling or collocation inaccuracies. Although these lexical errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and restrict the score. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for conveying simple and moderately complex ideas, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, as seen in conditional-like structures and multi-clause sentences such as 'Another issue is that no proper involvment of government can cause the damage of the local historical culture'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'great deal to economics of the nations' (missing verb), 'one os the fasted' (typo/grammar error), 'crowded people at tourism places sometimes cuase of the pollution', and 'by destroy these places could result in the decling'. Punctuation is also basic and occasionally distracting. Because complex structures are frequently faulty and errors recur throughout, causing some difficulty for the reader, this performance meets the criteria for Band 5.0.
