IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a great deal to economies around the world. However, the damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment is often ignored.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

All over the world the tourism industry is growing at rapid speed as compared to other industries in the world but the impact of tourist or tourism on the traditions of local people is mostly neglected.So we will be discussing both the views in following paragraphs.

Firstly if we talk about the industry of tourism it is one of the rapidly growing industries globally.And it surely plays important role economically of any country in the world.There are many countries globally depends on tourism or we can say that the tourism plays major part in the growth of their economy.For instance Macao and Maldives are two of the countries.Major part of their GDP share comes from tourism which is 70.8% and 68.1% respectively which are huge numbers millions of people visit these countries every year.

Secondly if we talk about the negative impact of tourism on local community there are many like prices of daily usage things food and groceries become higher.As the tourists use water food and energy in high amount so there are less romain for locals.People suffer from displacement have to lose their homes due to construction of new hotels and projects for tourist attractions.This also led to habitual lose and harm for wild life which is a great impact on environment And with this tourists from across the glob also bring their traditions and culture so which can impect local community.The flights and local traffic for tourism have great impact on global warming.

In the end i agree that the tourism plays important part in global economy but it also have some negative impact on different aspects of life which should be addressed and should not be ignored.
