Student answer (Band 4.5)
It is often argued that tourism is an important factor of damaging the local cultures and the environment, however some people ignored this fact. I copletly agree with this view , this is because tourisme bring polution with is and also effect the traditionals and lifestyles.
The main reason why I believe that tourisme damage the culture, this is because the pollution that cames with it. in other words, where tourists exist, means more people wich lead to more trash, for example in jijel city, beaches are so durty because in each summer lot of people comes from diffrent places to swimme. as a result that caused a sea pollution.
Another significante reason is that tourism can cause in mixing diffrent traditionales together, for instance, whene people comes from diffrent area to one place that lead to interaction between cultures and traditionelles, wich posibly lead to change lifestyle of real tradition of the erea.
in conclusion, altghou Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a great deal to economies around the world. However, I believe the damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment is often ignore, because it is apear with the time as a pollution and mixing culters and traditionales .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student addresses the prompt by stating a clear position that tourism causes damage to local cultures and the environment. However, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 208 words compared to the required 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas, leaving the supporting points rather brief and lacking extension. While two main areas are touched upon (pollution and cultural mixing), they are not fully elaborated with sophisticated examples, which pulls the Task Achievement score down into Band 5.0 due to the restricted development and failure to meet the word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a standard essay structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and basic linking devices like 'Another significante reason' and 'in conclusion'. Paragraphing is present, but the overall organization feels somewhat disjointed due to frequent mechanical errors in referencing and cohesion. For instance, the transition between ideas within sentences can be abrupt. Because the arrangement has some basic structure but lacks smooth progression, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'tourisme', 'culture', and 'traditionales' with numerous spelling mistakes throughout the text (e.g., 'copletly', 'polution', 'with is', 'cames', 'durty', 'swimme', 'significante', 'apppear'). The range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying simple meanings, but noticeable errors cause difficulty and strain for the reader. There are few attempts at less common lexical items, and when they are attempted, inaccurate spelling and word choice impede clarity. This aligns well with the Band 4.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as 'where tourists exist, means more people wich lead to more trash' and starting sentences with lowercase letters ('in conclusion', 'altghou'). These persistent errors often distort meaning and cause significant difficulty for the reader. While some basic structures are formed correctly, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies places this firmly in the Band 4.0 category.
