Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a great deal to economies around the world. Peoples travel around all the world to explore different type of places and nature. Tourism helps a lot in all countries economies and when people come from other countries to your's they don't just visit they represent our country to their freind circule. When tourists comes to over country our most peoples or companies earn money through them like when they visit nourthern areas they stay in the hotels and in this situation hotels earn money and when they go outside for walking and they buy something from the shop then the shopkeeper make money so that's the main point. Day by day population growth's and more people are ready to explore the worlds so that's why its the fastest growing industries in the world right now.
At the other hand tourism cause to damage the local cultures some time. For example when peaple come to visit mountains the left the trash behind. They also destroy nature some time like they damage the trees etc. But in my opinion not all the tourists are same some people are very decent and they know how to live in manage all the things in every situation.
I visit Skardu last year and i saw the peoples their from other countries and they are vell educated people, but some are rude and the don't do the thing in right way like they split trash random, this kind of things are not good and destroy the local culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the economic benefits of tourism and its negative impacts on local cultures and the environment, thereby covering all parts of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the explanation of economic benefits relies heavily on simple examples like staying in hotels and buying from shops. The student attempts to present a position by stating that not all tourists are destructive, citing personal experience from visiting Skardu. While the ideas are relevant, they remain somewhat under-developed and lack the depth expected for higher bands. Therefore, this performance fits comfortably within Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organisation, dividing the response into three paragraphs covering the economic advantages, environmental/cultural drawbacks, and a personal anecdote. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and transitions between sentences feel quite abrupt. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as using 'At the other hand' instead of 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'the left the trash behind' where pronouns and subjects are confused. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow, resulting in a performance that aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, featuring basic terms such as 'fastest growing industries', 'earn money', and 'destroy the local culture'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'freind circule', 'over country' instead of 'our country', 'nourthern', 'population growth's', 'peaple', and 'split trash random'. These errors and the restricted range of vocabulary occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band. Consequently, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate here.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The student uses a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple and coordinate clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or marred by basic grammatical mistakes. Frequent errors are present, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('tourists comes', 'the left', 'the don't do'), incorrect prepositions, and poor punctuation. For example, the sentence 'When tourists comes to over country our most peoples or companies earn money through them like when they visit nourthern areas they stay in the hotels...' demonstrates a run-on structure with pervasive errors. These frequent mistakes can cause difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 level.
